About the work:
I have been working with bird imagery for the past year, imagining the sensation of moving freely through the air, being untethered to the ground, in transition. I have felt this way in my own life, and now I find that this is the plight of the whole country as we shelter at home during the Covid 19 pandemic.  I do see that there is the potential for hope, release and change.   My initial inspiration in choosing the birds comes from my response to the raw power of the symbolic presence of birds and magical thinking in ancient Irish and Norse poetry.  I use reflective paint in transparent veils of watery color, so the images change and shimmer in the light as you view them from different angles.
