About the work:
Taking on the techniques of the botanist I collect and dry plant specimens in a plant press or in a microwave oven. I then use these materials in my collages. I also use fresh flowers that I deconstruct to separate out the petals. I rub the petals onto paper to make stains. Having learned over the years which flowers yield the most vibrant and light-fast colors, I now plant my gardens with these species. Many drawings record what is flowering in my gardens and become a kind of diary or scrapbook.
