Christopher Lowry Johnson, a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago has resided in New York City for twenty-five years and as a visual artist has exhibited his work extensively over the many years. Primarily working in the oil painting medium his work principally is grounded in the Figurative or Landscape tradition. Johnson’s paintings often feature introspective themes, chiefly stirring up feelings of melancholia and loss. Recognition of his work has been noted in reviews of his numerous solo exhibitions at Plus Ultra, Lump, and Winkleman Galleries. These and additional commentaries about his work have been featured in print and online in a wide variety of publications including the New York Times, the New Yorker, Time Out NY, Art Forum.com, Artnet.com, and Art – A Sex Book by John Waters and Bruce Hainley. Christopher Lowry Johnson currently resides with his wife and son in Jackson Heights, Queens, NY.
