Description
ARTIST STATEMENT / ELIZABETH RILEY
Elizabeth Riley’s art addresses questions concerning the complex and changing world we inhabit and our “mixed reality,” living between physical and digital/virtual contexts. Is the digital present the bells and whistles of unchanged and familiar humanity, or does it define us and the future? This project includes sculptural and 2-D wall works, installations, and tabletop cityscapes, made from a combination of video, video stills, and diverse materials. A longtime New Yorker, the artist graduated from Barnard College and received an MFA from Hunter College. Recent solo and group shows in New York City include “Ribbons Become Space’” at SL Gallery, “Trill Matrix” at the Clemente Center, and “BRIC Garage Door Video Series,” BRIC Arts|Media House.
