I grew up in a small town in rural Kansas and I got involved with making art at an early age. After high school I attended the Kansas City Art Institute. I also attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture. I have lived in Kansas City, Boston, New York City and Roosevelt, New Jersey. I love being an artist but it can be very challenging.
About this collection of work:
I took up drawing about 3 years ago after being hospitalized with a broken pelvis. Because of the drugged state I was in because of the pain meds I “saw” amazing technicolor images that moved across my screen of consciousness with what seemed like a life of their own. I was so inspired that I started drawing while in the hospital. I have always loved surrealism and abstract expressionism and it felt good to work simply and directly with pencil and paper. Making to be making lines and marks is very satisfying and seems to be the most direct way of making art.
